Operations of Arik Air, were on Monday shut down by aviation unions over alleged backlog of workers’ salaries and other anti-labour practices.

RealTime.ng gathered that staff of the airline were yet to be paid their monthly salary since April.

The workers claimed that the backlog of salaries started after the airline placed 90% of the workforce on compulsory leave and implemented other “anti-labour practices”.

The unions included the National Union of Air Transport Employees and Air Transport Senior Staff Services Association of Nigeria.

Currently, all Arik Air operations in Lagos are grounded.

This is a developing story.
