A 22-year-old woman has ditched her fashion career dream to become a porn star – and even her mum approves.
Jade, or Carly Rae Summers to her fans, started working in the adult film industry while she was studying at Manchester Metropolitan University.
The Warwickshire-born bombshell, who has a nose piercing and a pink tint in her dip-dyed hair, can make anything from £10 an hour to £1,200 for a two-day shoot.
“When you think of porn you think of these bright orange girls with masses of make-up on, I don’t want to be like every other porn star out there, I want to be me and no-one else,” she said on the new BBC3 documentary, Jade: Why I Chose Porn.
“I have watched porn online and was always fascinated and thought it was something I might get involved in.”
Jade had planned to work in fashion but was put off by the idea of having to do an “unpaid internship for a year and work five days a week unpaid full-time”.
She reveals she struggled with “depression” and body confidence issues while at university and the X-rated industry “changed my life”.
She said: “My life was in a bad place. Then I got into this and people were telling me I was beautiful and people wanted to know me.
“It brought me out of my shell and gave me confidence in myself and to believe in myself.”
Jade started off by selling pictures and videos of herself online and was then invited to make a porn film.
She said: “I suddenly had £100 in my bank account every few weeks and I could go shopping and it made me happy.”
Jade’s mum is supportive of her career and even advises her on which roles she should take up.
Jade admits she is not proud of all of the work she has done, including one where a man was quite aggressive and another where multiple men masturbated over her while she wore a plastic funnel around her neck.
She said: “I did shoot one when I started out with a guy who was quite rough with me, the only one my mum has watched and gone ‘you shouldn’t have done that, don’t do that again’.
“I don’t know how she found it online. Originally my mum cared a lot but since she has found out I’m not going to dodgy hotels she is more relaxed.”
Jade said if she has a daughter in the future she wouldn’t mind her doing porn but it’s “not something you want for your child”.
Despite a couple of bad experiences – she had chlamydia once and was torn by a large 14in penis that left her bleeding – she says she “loves” her job.
“I’m completely in control of the situation because I am a complete feminist, everything I do is all about me. I do these things because I want to,” she said.
Jade, who is currently single, admits porn has stopped her from having a long-term relationship.
“My ex-boyfriend was all for it to start with but then I would go to shoots and he would think I was sleeping with the photographer,” she said.
“I would rather do porn or have a boyfriend, not do both at the same time.”
