A lecturer of the Imo State University (IMSU), Emma Ogueri, has reportedly been kidnapped by gunmen allegedly dressed in police uniform.
The lecturer attached to IMSU’s Social Science Faculty was said to have been sitting out with his associates and had stepped out to a pharmacy opposite Seasons Hotel in Owerri when he was kidnapped.
The Punch, quoting sources, reports that the kidnappers had beaten Ogueri before whisking him off in their vehicle on Friday.
“The lecturer was drinking with his friends and suddenly said he was having a headache and went across the road to buy drugs,” a source told the newspaper.
Confirming the incident, Orlando Ikeokwu, the State Police Public Relations Officer said necessary actions to secure his release were underway.
