No fewer than 124 suspects has been arrested by the Federal Capital Territory Police Command in separate raids conducted across the territory.

The raids were carried out between Sunday and Tuesday in Kabusa, Karshi and Nyanya, Dutse Alhaji, Mpape, Iddo, and Utako areas of the FCT among others.

Responding to an inquiry from our correspondent on the raids observed in parts of the FCT on Wednesday, the FCT Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, said there had been massive raids during the day and at night at the various flashpoints across the territory.

She said it was a renewed effort of the police to flush out criminals from the territory.

Adeh said, “In the last few weeks, the CP has been working effortlessly to ensure the FCT is relatively peaceful for lawful citizens. There have been constant raids at night and day of suspicious places and uncomplicated buildings in our effort to wipe out criminals out of FCT.”

Giving a breakdown of the number of suspects arrested, she noted that a total of 124 suspects have been arrested from black spots so far in the ongoing operations.

Adeh noted that the suspects were being screened and interrogated, adding that they would be charged in court afterwards.

She said, “So far, we have arrested about 124. On Sunday, 37 were arrested at Iddo, Utako, Mpape, and Nyanya. Dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp were recovered from them. On Monday, 46 suspects were arrested at criminal hotspots in Kabusa, Karashi, and Nyanya. On Tuesday, 41 suspects were arrested in Dutse Alhaji, Kabusa, Nyanya and Mpape.

“The suspects are currently under screening and interrogation at various divisions after which they will be charged to court.”
