Olufemi Soneye, Chief Corporate Communications Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd), has officially stepped down from his position after nearly two years of service.
In a farewell message shared with colleagues on Saturday, Soneye thanked the NNPC team for their dedication, professionalism, and support throughout his tenure.
He highlighted his time at the national oil company as a period of growth and transformation, noting his efforts to elevate the organisation’s public image and tell its story in a balanced and engaging manner.
Soneye’s leadership, according to the statement, was marked by a strong commitment to building a dynamic communications framework that aligned with NNPC Ltd’s evolving role in Nigeria’s energy landscape.
Though stepping away from official duties, he expressed continued solidarity with the company’s mission, encouraging staff to maintain their momentum and continue supporting NNPC’s strategic goals.
He cited personal reasons for his decision, stating that he intends to spend more time with his family and attend to pressing personal commitments.
