Former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye, officially stepped into his new role as a legal practitioner on Friday, making his first appearance in court as a lawyer.

Dressed in the traditional wig and gown, Melaye appeared before Justice Emeka Nwite at Court 8 of the Federal High Court in Abuja. This marks his debut legal appearance since being called to the Nigerian Bar earlier this month.

“Senator Dino Melaye at the Federal High Court Abuja today. Appeared before Justice Emeka Nwite of Court 8,” the former lawmaker posted on his verified Facebook page, sharing photos from the courtroom.

Melaye was among over 5,000 new lawyers called to the Bar in Abuja in early July, after successfully completing his law degree at Baze University, Abuja.

A prominent figure in Nigerian politics, Melaye represented the Kogi West Senatorial District during the 8th National Assembly under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

His courtroom debut signals a new chapter in his career, transitioning from legislative chambers to legal advocacy.
