President Bola Tinubu has honoured Nigeria’s Super Falcons and their technical crew following their stunning victory at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) with a grand reception at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

At the ceremony, the President conferred national honours of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) on all 24 players and the 11-man technical crew, allocated three-bedroom apartments to each of them at the Renewed Hope Housing Estate in Abuja and Awarded cash gifts—the naira equivalent of $100,000 (₦150 Million) to each player and $50,000 (₦75 Million) to each technical team member.

In his remarks, President Tinubu praised the team for making the nation proud, highlighting their discipline, passion, and resilience throughout the tournament.

He joked about the intense nature of the WAFCON final, saying: “I didn’t want to watch the final live because I didn’t want to have high blood pressure.”

In a further show of appreciation, the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF), represented by its Chairman and Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq, also gifted ₦10 million to each team member.
