Ibom Air has confirmed that an incident involving an unruly passenger, Ms. Comfort Emmanson, occurred on its Uyo–Lagos flight on Sunday, August 10, 2025, posing a serious threat to the safety of crew, passengers, and the aircraft.

According to the airline, Ms. Emmanson refused instructions to switch off her mobile phone before take-off, only complying after intervention from another passenger. The situation escalated upon arrival in Lagos when she attacked the Purser, forcibly tearing off her wig, removing her glasses, and assaulting her with her footwear. She also slapped another cabin crew member and attempted to remove a fire extinguisher from its holder.

The airline said she continued to assault Ibom Air and Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) security personnel before being forcibly restrained, removed from the aircraft, and handed over to the Nigeria Police.

A report has been submitted to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, and Ms. Emmanson has been permanently banned from flying with Ibom Air. The airline reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on unruly behavior, warning that such actions will attract the strongest possible sanctions, including legal action.

Ibom Air commended its crew for their professionalism and thanked airport security and the police for their swift intervention, emphasizing that safety remains its top priority.
