Presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, has mocked key opposition figures following the poor outing of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the just-concluded by-elections.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday morning, Onanuga shared a picture of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party’s Peter Obi, and former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, accompanied by the caption: “How is the market now?”

The remark, widely seen as a taunt, comes amid growing questions about the relevance and strength of Nigeria’s opposition parties in the current political landscape.

The opposition leaders, who have openly set their sights on unseating President Bola Tinubu in 2027, reportedly backed the ADC as a platform to test their popularity in the polls.

However, the All Progressives Congress (APC) secured the majority of seats in the elections, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) managed to record some victories.
