A passenger train traveling from Abuja to Kaduna derailed on Tuesday morning, sparking panic among passengers and raising fresh safety concerns on the busy corridor.
The incident occurred around 11 a.m., shortly after the train departed Abuja, according to eyewitness reports. Passengers on board described the atmosphere as chaotic, with many scrambling to safety in fear and confusion.
One passenger recounted: “It was chaotic. People were shouting and running, not knowing what would happen next.”
While the cause of the derailment remains unclear, security sources confirmed that military personnel were immediately deployed to the scene to assist with evacuation and restore calm.
As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official confirmation regarding injuries or casualties. The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has also not released a statement on the incident.
