The former Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (1999-2003), Dr. Ahmed Aliyu Mustapha (OFR) is dead.
He held the traditional title of Sardauna Adamawa and was the elder brother of the current Lamido of Adamawa, Alhaji Dr. Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Mustapha.
As a career customs officer, he rose through the ranks to become the Comptroller General. He is fondly recognised for his anti-smuggling operations, his participation in national task forces, and for receiving the Ministerial Award for Outstanding Performance in 1988.
He retired in December 2003 after a distinguished career and remained widely respected for his contributions to the Service.
