The Ports Terminal Multiservices Limited (PTML) Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has welcomed a new Customs Area Controller (CAC), Comptroller Joe Anani, following his deployment by the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR.

At a brief handover ceremony, Anani officially took over from Assistant Comptroller General (ACG) Tenny Mankini Daniyan, praising his predecessor for his trailblazing leadership and particularly for the successful rollout of the Unified Customs Management System, popularly known as B’Odogwu.

Assuring stakeholders of his commitment, Anani pledged to sustain and build on PTML’s reputation as a model port for efficiency, security, and trade facilitation. He highlighted the command’s record of releasing compliant Roll-on Roll-off (RoRo) cargo within two hours and promised to further reduce clearance time through enhanced compliance and system efficiency.

“Compliance is the key to smooth port operations. It ensures adherence to regulations, reduces delays, minimises risks, and saves both time and money. Non-compliance, however, attracts penalties, seizures, and delays,” Anani stated.

The new CAC also vowed to enforce the Comptroller-General’s zero-tolerance stance on smuggling while maintaining open-door access for officers, stakeholders, and the media. He called for collective cooperation in sustaining PTML’s outstanding performance in revenue generation and trade facilitation.

Stakeholders at the event showered praises on ACG Daniyan for his achievements. The President of the Africa Association of Professional Freight Forwarders and Logistics of Nigeria (APFFLON), Otunba Frank Ogunojemite, described him as “a man whose records speak volumes positively.”

Similarly, Chief Charles Nwarrienne, Chairman of the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) PTML Chapter, said Daniyan deserved a “certificate of project completion” for his remarkable tenure.Comptroller Anani urged all stakeholders to work with him to consolidate PTML’s status as one of Nigeria’s most efficient and compliant ports.
