A passenger on an Ibom Air flight from Lagos to Abuja died on Sunday after reportedly falling ill mid-air.

According to reports, the passenger became sick about 20 minutes into the journey, prompting crew members to administer first aid while the pilot radioed the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport control tower for emergency assistance.

To ensure quick medical attention and avoid delays, the aircraft was cleared to land at the Presidential Wing of the airport, where medics and an ambulance were on standby.

However, on landing, unconfirmed sources said all efforts to revive the passenger failed before evacuation.

As of press time, there has been no official statement from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) or Ibom Air regarding the incident.
