On Tuesday 23rd September, National Assembly security officials reportedly unsealed the office of the suspended Sen. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan at the Senate wing.
The Sergeant-at-Arms, supported by a combined team of security personnel, reopened Room 205, which had remained locked since her suspension earlier this year.
The move effectively restores Akpoti-Uduaghan’s access to her office and the wider National Assembly complex, paving the way for her possible return to legislative duties.
News sources gathered that the decision to unseal the office was taken during a Senate leadership meeting on Monday to ensure the Kogi lawmaker can be present when plenary resumes on October 7, 2025.
According to a source familiar with the meeting, plans are in motion for a reconciliation process on the day of resumption. The Minority Leader of the Senate, Senator Abba Moro (PDP, Benue South), is expected to move a motion for Akpoti-Uduaghan to tender an apology on the floor, after which the motion will be seconded and adopted if there are no last-minute changes.
Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended earlier this year over allegations of misconduct following a bitter face-off with Senate leadership. The unsealing of her office signals a significant step toward ending the standoff and reinstating her as an active member of the 10th Senate.
