A 32-year-old woman, K. Rekha, was brutally stabbed to death by her husband near a bus stop in Bengaluru, India, on Monday morning, in full view of their 12-year-old daughter and shocked bystanders.

Police said Rekha sustained 11 stab wounds in the attack. Though bystanders rushed her to the hospital, doctors declared her dead on arrival.

The suspect, identified as Lohitashwa, married Rekha about three months ago after both had separated from their previous spouses.

“Preliminary investigation suggests the couple had frequent quarrels. We are probing the circumstances that led to this brutal assault,” a senior police officer told reporters.

Eyewitnesses described the attack as sudden and horrifying.

“He kept stabbing her again and again while the child screamed for help. People were terrified and didn’t know how to intervene,” said a nearby shopkeeper.

Accounts differ on Lohitashwa’s next move. Some witnesses said he tried to flee and was caught by locals, while others claim he surrendered immediately. Authorities confirmed he is now in police custody and will face murder charges.

Police are reviewing CCTV footage from the area and questioning witnesses to piece together the exact sequence of events and determine the motive. The daylight killing at a busy public place has sparked outrage across the city.
