Hester Ford has an incredible 48 grandchildren and 200 great-grandchildren.

In total she has a shocking 248 direct descendants.

She is based in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she has lived for 59 years.

For her birthday, the mum-of-12 was surrounded by loved ones and is one of only few people on the planet who are over 110.

Some of her family visited her through drive-thru ahead of her birthday to keep in line with coronavirus restrictions.

And she is so well-known in the local community she is something of a local celebrity.

Charlotte’s mayor, Vi Lyles, even declared August 15 as “Mother Hester Ford Day” in honour of her birthday.

When asked what her secret was, she replied “I don’t know”, and is herself confused as to how she has made it this far.

The US’s last person to holed the title was New Yorker Alelia Murphy who died aged 115 in November 2019, reports DailyMail.

Alelia said she ate a banana for breakfast every day and didn’t even need hospital treatment until 2008.
