Ex-agitators in the Niger Delta Region have resolved to work for the development of the area, by tackling kidnapping, sea piracy, and armed robbery.

The ex-militants made these resolutions at an interactive peace-building meeting with the Interim Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme in Agadagba-Obon, in Ese-Odo Local Government Area of Ondo State

This interactive peace-building meeting is coming, three months after the appointment of Retired Colonel Miland Dikio, as the Interim Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme.

Different issues on how to move the region forward were discussed.

It was resolved that the leadership structure established at the inception of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, be sustained and respected.

They also agreed that leaders of the Niger Delta must sustain peace in their communities, by working with appropriate agencies of government.

For the Interim Administrator of the Amnesty programme,he is delighted with outcome of the meeting and urged the ex-agitators to cooperate with the federal government to bring rapid development to the region.

The ex-agitators also want the meeting to be a routine exercise, in order to ensure that peace is sustained in the region.
