Contrary to popular belief where the Hausa people are seen as righteous in Nigeria, the story of this Hausa woman who uses various tricks to steal rich people’ s cars in Benue State and takes them to the north to sell proves this unfounded belief to be false. Before this incident, it was always very hard to attribute crime to an Hausa man or woman except the ones in politics.

The actions of this woman has remove the veil from people’s face. According to the statement from the Kano State Police Command, the arrest of a notorious criminal syndicate led by a 47-year-old Hausa woman by the name, Hauwa Mustapha, who is an ex-convict, nullify the popular belief that all Hausa women earn their living through the legitimate way.

The Spokesperson of the command, DSP Abdullahi Haruna, disclosed this in a press statement on Friday, February 5, said the suspects specializes in car stealing and breaking of people’ s shops.

They were arrested based on intelligence reports given to the police about their criminal activities.

They were arrested on the 5th of January 2021 at about 03:30hrs. CSP Alabi Lateef, while on intelligence-led patrol along Zaria Road Kano arrested the notorious criminals which was led by an Hausa woman, of about 47 years old, of Naibawa Quarters, Kano and one Auwalu Ibrahim, 28 years, of Brigade Quarters Kano, while driving a Motor Vehicle Honda Accord, ash in color, which they just stole from their victims.

They were stopped and search and some criminal items were recovered from them.

During their arrest, breaking tools were found concealed inside their stolen vehicle. The suspects after series of interrogations confessed to have conspired with two others who are now at large, to broke a stationary parked vehicle along Mariri Quarters Kano and stole eight cartons of Swan Bottle Water and also make away with the vehicle.

They lady who was the gang leader confessed of how she has been stealing people’ s car for a long time and the tricks she uses in stealing the cars.

The inspector of police incharge of the case has promised to charge them immediately to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
