The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is facing fresh questions over the accuracy of its preliminary voters’ register after screenshots circulated online allegedly showed two individuals listed more than 10 times in the same polling unit in Delta State.

The development comes amid controversy over suspicious photographs in the preliminary voters’ register for parts of Edo State, where some images have drawn online criticism over suspicions that they were generated using artificial intelligence.

The screenshots from Delta were shared on X by a user identified as @Napyboy01. They reportedly show the names EKIM GLORIA G. and EKONG DORATHY I. recurring across multiple pages of the register for Uku/Okpara Emukpo Orogun Primary School polling unit in Orogun 1 Ward, Ughelli North Local Government Area.

The entries allegedly contain matching photographs and personal details. Partial voter identification numbers shown in the screenshots include 90F56404 for EKIM GLORIA G. and 90F50053 for EKONG DORATHY I.

According to the posts, each name appears more than 10 times in the register for the same polling unit, raising concerns about how the entries were captured and whether they passed through INEC’s registration and verification procedures.

The allegations have renewed scrutiny of the commission’s voter registration process as preparations for the 2027 general election continue.

Multiple entries for the same individuals, if confirmed and left uncorrected, could raise concerns about the accuracy of the register and the effectiveness of safeguards against duplicate registrations. However, the screenshots circulating online do not, on their own, establish how the entries occurred or whether they would translate into multiple votes.

The Delta allegations follow criticism of the preliminary register in Edo State, particularly Ward 11 in Uzairue South East, Etsako West Local Government Area, where photographs displayed for some voters have been questioned over suspicions of AI generation. Other reports have also drawn attention to entries in Esan Central.

The latest claims have added to calls for greater scrutiny of the preliminary register and for INEC to address concerns about the integrity of voter records ahead of the 2027 polls.
