The campaign convoy of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has reportedly come under attack in Calabar, Cross River State.
Ester Umoh, a media aide to Obi, raised the alarm in a social media post on Wednesday, alleging that suspected thugs attempted to attack the convoy.
“Thugs are trying to attack our convoy,” Umoh wrote.
The reported incident occurred shortly after Obi arrived in Calabar with his wife, Margaret, and his running mate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, for a town hall meeting.
It also followed Obi’s visit to the palace of the Obong of Calabar.
The development comes about two months after the former Anambra State governor’s convoy reportedly faced a similar disruption in Benue State.
During that incident, suspected thugs allegedly blocked Boko Road near the Air Force Base in an attempt to prevent Obi from gaining access into the state.
