The Federal High Court in Abuja has nullified Governor Hope Uzodimma’s candidacy for the Imo West Senatorial District election scheduled for January 16, 2027, ruling that he did not emerge victorious in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary.

Delivering judgment on Thursday, Justice Obiora Egwuatu said the evidence presented before the court showed that Uzodimma was not the winner of the party’s senatorial primary held on May 18 under the monitoring of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The judge held that former Imo State governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha, polled the highest number of votes in the exercise, making him the rightful recipient of the party’s ticket for the district.

Consequently, the court ordered INEC to recognise Okorocha as the APC candidate for the Imo West senatorial contest and publish his name accordingly.

It also issued an order restraining Uzodimma from presenting himself as the party’s candidate for the election.
