NNPC Limited has announced the full restoration of operations on the Escravos–Lagos Pipeline System (ELPS) following an explosion that disrupted activities earlier in December.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the national energy company said the pipeline, located in Warri, Delta State, has been successfully repaired, tested and recommissioned after the incident on December 10, 2025.

According to NNPC Limited, emergency response protocols were immediately activated after the explosion, with containment measures put in place to prevent further damage. Multidisciplinary teams were subsequently deployed to fix the affected section of the pipeline, carry out pressure tests and ensure it was safe for full operation.

The company attributed the swift restoration to the cooperation of host communities, support from regulatory authorities, the efforts of security agencies, and the commitment of its partners and staff. NNPC said the collaboration helped return the pipeline to service within a short period while maintaining safety and environmental standards.

NNPC Limited reaffirmed its commitment to protecting host communities, preserving the environment and ensuring the reliability of its infrastructure, adding that the restoration of ELPS underscores its focus on strengthening Nigeria’s energy security.
