A 27-year-old man, Muktar Shehu, has been arraigned before a Chief Magistrate’s Court in Yola, Adamawa State, over the alleged theft of 27 pieces of underwear belonging to a woman.
Shehu, a resident of Zango Ward in Jimeta, Yola North Local Government Area, was arraigned by the Adamawa State Police Command on charges of house trespass, theft and criminal charm.
Police Prosecutor, Danjuma Hamidu, told the court that the defendant allegedly broke into the residence of Halima Yakubu on August 6, 2026, and stole 27 pieces of underwear.
According to the First Information Report presented to the court, the suspect allegedly admitted during police interrogation that he took the underwear for ritual purposes.
The prosecution consequently described the alleged theft as being connected to ritual activities.
Following his arraignment, Chief Magistrate Court 3 in Yola ordered that Shehu be remanded in custody.
The allegations against the defendant have not been proven in court.
