The Imo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has maintained that Governor Hope Uzodimma remains its candidate for the Imo West Senatorial District seat in the 2027 general elections, despite a Federal High Court ruling in Abuja recognising former governor Rochas Okorocha for the position.

The party’s position was conveyed in a statement issued on Thursday by its State Publicity Secretary, Onwuasoanya FCC Jones, who dismissed reports that Uzodimma had lost the APC ticket as unverified.

The party accused opposition figures of circulating claims on social media that the governor had been replaced, insisting that he secured the senatorial ticket through a primary election backed by the overwhelming support of party members.

“The All Progressives Congress is aware of some unverified reports making the rounds across many social media platforms and being circulated by renowned opposition figures about a purported change in the candidacy of our Party for Imo West Senatorial District,” the statement said.

The APC reiterated that Uzodimma remained its candidate, adding that its legal department would examine the outcome of the court proceedings and determine the appropriate steps to take.

“The party’s legal department shall study the outcome of a legal intervention in this matter and act accordingly,” the statement added.

The party also urged its members and supporters not to be distracted by the controversy, calling on them to remain committed to securing APC victories across constituencies in Imo State in the 2027 elections.
