President Bola Tinubu has forwarded the names of six nominees for appointment as executive directors of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) to the Senate for confirmation.
The nominations, conveyed in a letter to the upper legislative chamber, comprise three returning directors and three new appointees. All six nominees are expected to serve five-year terms if confirmed by the Senate.
The three nominees being returned to their positions are Abiodun Adeniji, for Finance and Accounts; Ogbugo Kalu Ukoha, for Distribution Systems, Storage and Retailing Infrastructure; and Mustapha Lamorde, for Health, Safety, Environment and Community.
The new nominees are Mobolaji Tajudeen Musa, for Hydrocarbon Processing Plants, Installations and Transportation Infrastructure; Ogechukwu Modie, for Economic Regulations and Strategic Planning; and Said Abutalib, for Corporate Services and Administration.
Tinubu urged the Senate to give the nominations prompt consideration, noting that the appointments would support continuity in the Authority’s operations and strengthen its regulatory oversight responsibilities.
The President has also approved the appointment of Jumoke Gafar as Secretary to the Board/Authority and Legal Adviser. Her appointment is subject to the completion of the statutory requirements outlined in Section 46 of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).
The latest appointments follow Tinubu’s earlier appointment of Rabiu Abdullahi Umar as Chief Executive of the NMDPRA in April.
The nominations were announced in a statement issued on Friday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
