The Management of Abuja Continental Hotel has reaffirmed its commitment to constructive dialogue and industrial harmony, even as it condemned the blockade of its premises by the Trade Union Congress (TUC) on Monday, August 24, 2026.
Niyi Agoro, Cluster Director, Human Resources, Continental Hotel Group in a statement said the hotel remains fully operational and continues to deliver the exceptional standard of hospitality it is renowned for.
“Abuja Continental Hotel immediately activated appropriate security and business-continuity measures to safeguard our guests, colleagues, business partners and stakeholders, while ensuring there was no disruption to hotel operations,” Agoro stated.
He described the blockade as “unnecessary, highly irresponsible and completely inconsistent with the principles of constructive industrial relations.”
According to him, Management had responded in good faith to a TUC letter dated 3rd August 2026 by proposing a meeting date to engage and address all concerns raised.
“It is regrettable that instead of dialogue, the next action was the physical obstruction of the hotel’s gates. Such actions impede the movement of guests, employees, emergency personnel, suppliers and partners. Industrial relations must be handled through dialogue, negotiation and mutual respect — not disruption,” Agoro said.
Notwithstanding the incident, he stressed that the hotel’s priority remains unwavering: to protect guests and staff, preserve business continuity, and ensure every guest receives the safe, seamless and world-class hospitality experience Abuja Continental is known for.
“We remain open to constructive engagement with all stakeholders. Our doors are open. But we will not compromise the safety of our guests, the welfare of our employees, or the integrity of our operations,” he added.
Agoro assured guests, corporate clients, and diplomatic missions that Abuja Continental Hotel continues to operate at full capacity and remains Nigeria’s premier destination for luxury, business and MICE events.
