The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has announced a temporary power outage affecting several parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) due to a scheduled maintenance exercise by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
In a notice issued on Wednesday via its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, AEDC disclosed that TCN is carrying out maintenance on transformers TR1 and TR2 at the Kukwaba Transmission Substation on Tuesday, February 4, 2026.
According to the distribution company, the maintenance, which is expected to be completed by 2:00 p.m., is aimed at improving service reliability and enhancing electricity supply to the affected areas.
Communities impacted by the outage include Wuye and Utako districts, CITEC Estate, Idu Industrial Area, Coca-Cola, PESI, Federal Medical Centre (FMC), EFCC, Nile University, Zhidu Community, Fafu Estate, and surrounding areas.
AEDC apologised for any inconvenience caused by the planned outage, noting that the exercise is part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen power infrastructure and deliver improved service.
“This maintenance exercise, expected to be concluded by 2:00 p.m., is part of our continued efforts to enhance service reliability and improve power supply to your community,” the notice stated.
As of the time of filing this report, the affected areas in Abuja were still without electricity.
