Yenagoa was thrown into a state of alarm on Thursday after Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, collapsed unexpectedly in his office and was immediately transported to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Yenagoa.
According to reports, the incident occurred around 1:30pm, prompting aides and security personnel to act quickly and rush him to the hospital. Witnesses said Ewhrudjakpo appeared unwell upon arrival at the emergency unit, sparking concern among staff and visitors.
While officials have not released an official cause for the collapse, sources indicate that it may have been linked to a possible cardiac issue. A close aide described the deputy governor as having an extremely demanding schedule, noting, “He’s a workaholic; he should find time to rest.”
Security has cordoned off the hospital, and several top government officials have visited to check on his condition. Hospital insiders confirmed that Senator Ewhrudjakpo is receiving proper medical care and is currently stable.
