The Obidient Movement in Benue State is set to hold a one million-man march in Makurdi on Saturday as part of efforts to mobilise supporters around its call for a “new Nigeria.”
The group said the demonstration would begin at 9:00am, with supporters gathering at the Wurukum Roundabout, which has been designated as the take-off point.
The mobilisation, scheduled for September 12, 2026, is being held under the theme, “In Solidarity for a New Nigeria.”
A flyer announcing the event features Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and carries the message, “A New Nigeria Is Possible.”
The movement also adopted “One People, One Voice, One Future” as the slogan for the mobilisation, urging supporters to come out in what it described as a peaceful and united demonstration.
According to the organisers, the march is intended to demonstrate unity and determination among supporters, with participants encouraged to remain peaceful throughout the exercise.
The planned mobilisation follows the recent disruption of Peter Obi’s visit to Benue State, where the NDC presidential candidate was reportedly attacked.
Supporters are expected to use Saturday’s march to condemn the incident and press demands for accountability, improved security and an end to attacks targeting opposition politicians.
