A group of youths in Benue State have reportedly called on the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, to leave the state following an incident involving his convoy in Makurdi.
In a video circulating online, the youths were seen asking Obi to leave the state, although the circumstances surrounding the video and the identities of those involved were not immediately clear.
The development followed an earlier incident on Monday morning when suspected thugs reportedly blocked a major access road in an attempt to prevent Obi from entering Makurdi.
Obi’s convoy was subsequently attacked during the incident.
The former Anambra State governor later explained that his visit to Benue was not connected to political campaigning, but was strictly humanitarian.
The incident has nevertheless generated reactions, with the video showing some youths calling on the NDC presidential candidate to leave the state.
