Nigerian singer Ckay has set a new record, becoming the first Nigerian solo artist to have a song surpass 1 billion streams on Spotify.

The 2019 hit single, “Love Nwantiti (Ah Ah Ah),” recently achieved the historic milestone, cementing Ckay’s place as the first solo male African artist to reach this mark on the global streaming platform.

Celebrating the achievement on X, Ckay expressed his gratitude, writing: “First solo Nigerian song to cross 1 billion streams. Grateful to God and the people involved in this historic success! Thank you for streaming.”

While Ckay is the first Nigerian solo act to reach 1 billion streams, Wizkid previously became the first African artist to join Spotify’s 1 billion club in 2017 through his collaboration with Drake on “One Dance,” which holds the Guinness World Record as the platform’s first song to hit the milestone.

This breakthrough highlights the growing global influence of Nigerian artists and the continued popularity of Afrobeats worldwide.
