Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has expressed sadness over the death of former Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District, Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi, saying his passing is a profound loss to Delta State, the Anioma people and the nation.
In a condolence message released through his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, the governor described the late senator as a distinguished son of Delta State and a fearless advocate of the Anioma cause whose impact on public life would not be forgotten.
Governor Oborevwori reflected on Senator Nwaoboshi’s tenure at the National Assembly, highlighting his role as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Niger Delta Affairs. He noted that the former lawmaker was widely respected for his strong advocacy for the development of the Niger Delta and Delta State.
The governor also spoke on the late senator’s political career, which he said was built on solid political heritage, dedication to service and firm belief in democratic values. He recalled that Nwaoboshi also served the state with distinction as a two-time Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Delta State.
According to Oborevwori, the former senator committed his life to serving his people, his political party and the country, leaving behind enduring legacies of bravery, loyalty and devotion to public service.
The governor said, “On behalf of the government and people of Delta State, I deeply mourn the passing of my dear friend, Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi.
“I convey my sincere condolences to his immediate family, the Anioma nation, members of our great party, the All Progressives Congress, and all who were touched by his life and service.
“I pray that God Almighty grants him eternal rest and gives his loved ones the strength to bear this great loss.”
