A mild confrontation played out on Sunday in Ile-Ife as First Lady Senator Remi Tinubu and Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke exchanged words during the 10th coronation anniversary celebration of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.

The ceremony, which drew high-profile guests—including former President Olusegun Obasanjo, serving and former governors, lawmakers, and traditional leaders—also featured the conferment of the Yeye-Asiwaju of Ile Oodua title on Senator Tinubu.

Governor Adeleke, who was invited to deliver remarks, mixed his speech with singing and brief dance moves, a signature feature of his public appearances. However, videos circulated online show the First Lady walking up to him mid-speech, urging him to wrap up.

“I’m giving you five minutes to finish your speech. The music is enough,” she said. When Adeleke continued singing, she returned moments later, warning: “I will turn off the microphone. Stop the music.”

The exchange, captured by attendees and shared widely on social media, quickly became a trending topic.

The governor, who recently exited the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over internal disputes, is reportedly weighing alternative political platforms ahead of the 2026 governorship contest. His former party announced Adedamola Adebayo as its candidate for the upcoming election on December 2.
