DJ Kulet, whose real name is Kudirat Gbemisola, has opened up about her past, revealing that she was once involved in prostitution before finding stability and success.
The Fuji disc jockey made the disclosure during a church service on Sunday while giving a testimony about her life journey and transformation.
Speaking emotionally, she recounted growing up in the Lawanson area of Surulere in Lagos, describing her early years as difficult and marked by poor choices.
“I just want to say thank you Jesus because my story here in Surulere was a very bad one… But I repent, and God removed me from the gutter,” she said.
In a follow-up post shared on her Instagram page, DJ Kulet detailed her journey from homelessness to becoming a homeowner. She revealed that she once lived on the streets and struggled to survive before her circumstances began to change.
According to her, she initially moved into a modest “face-me-I-slap-you” apartment through the help of a man, before gradually improving her living conditions as her DJ career began to take off.
She also described difficult living conditions at one point, including staying in a house without a functioning toilet for two years.
Despite the setbacks, she said her persistence and career growth eventually led her to better accommodation, including a self-contained apartment and later a four-bedroom ensuite residence.
The DJ added that in April last year, she was able to purchase her own home in Surulere—an achievement she described as a full-circle moment, given her past struggles in the same area.
She credited her transformation to faith, hard work, and her career, stating that her story has evolved from hardship into a message of hope.
