A horrific case of domestic cruelty has been uncovered in the Federal Capital Territory, where a man has been arrested by the police for allegedly locking up and chaining his own biological sister in a room for a grueling one year and four months.

The disturbing incident came to light after the FCT Police Command received a frantic distress call on June 12, 2026. The call alerted authorities that 36-year-old Grace Aniekuoku was being held captive inside a locked room by her brother, Chinedu Aniekuoku.

Briefing journalists in Abuja on Monday, the FCT Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Sanusi, described the rescue operation as one of the most dehumanizing and shocking scenes his officers had ever encountered.

Upon receiving the report, the Commissioner immediately dispatched a team of seasoned detectives from the Katempe Division to the residence. However, on arriving at the scene, the suspect stoutly refused to grant the police entry into his house, forcing the team to take decisive legal action.

“I ordered that they should invoke the police powers of ingress and liberation to gain access into the premises. What that power gives the police is this: if you want to go into a place for a lawful duty and you are restricted, you can break in and do your duty,” the commissioner explained.

When the officers finally breached the room, they were met with a sight that defied human decency. The victim had been kept under severely degrading conditions, completely neglected and cut off from the world.

“The victim was seen in a highly dehumanising condition, where she had stayed for this long in her own faeces and excreta. She eats there, defecates there nobody cleans it, nobody cares about her welfare. Her hair was so grown, like a forest. She became so emaciated that a camera stand is thicker than her neck,” the CP lamented.

The police boss further disclosed that the traumatized woman was immediately rushed to the hospital, where medical personnel are currently battling to stabilize her health.

“We just pray that she survives to tell us the story,” the commissioner added.
Meanwhile, ongoing police investigations have unearthed a chilling and sinister motive behind the prolonged captivity.

According to the police, the suspect had allegedly abducted the victim’s young son about two years ago and locked her up to permanently silence her.

“The suspect had forcefully taken away the victim’s son to an unknown location about two years ago and subsequently kept his sister in confinement to prevent her from raising any questions regarding the whereabouts of the child, who may have been used for sacrifice,” the commissioner revealed.

The FCT Police Command has assured the public that intense efforts are being made to trace and rescue the missing child. The suspect remains in police custody and will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
