A Nigerian-American engineer and Harvard University graduate, Yinka Ogunbiyi, has successfully developed HaloBraid, an automated innovation acclaimed as the world’s first braid-assist robot.
The groundbreaking technology is specially created to significantly reduce physical strain on hair stylists while saving substantial time for beauty salons and clients alike.
The development was formally announced by the United States Mission in Nigeria through a statement shared on its official X (formerly Twitter) platform on Friday.
According to the diplomatic mission, the innovative venture has already secured $7 million in funding and drawn massive commercial interest, with more than 7,000 salons currently joined on its waiting list.
The US Mission praised the accomplishment, writing: “Nigerian-American engineer & Harvard grad Yinka Ogunbiyi built HaloBraid, the world’s first braid-assist robot, easing strain on stylists & saving salons time. $7M raised, 7,000+ salons waitlisted.
