The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has inducted 448 new members at its fourth quarter induction ceremony for 2025, raising the total number of professionals admitted into the institute this year to 1,516.

The ceremony took place on Friday in Abuja and formed part of the institute’s quarterly exercise to license qualified practitioners into the public relations profession in Nigeria.

Addressing the inductees, NIPR President, Dr. Ike Neliaku, urged them to see their roles beyond routine communication tasks and embrace a broader responsibility in national development. He said public relations professionals must help build public confidence, explain government reforms, manage public expectations and contribute to social stability through responsible communication.

Neliaku described the new members as “stewards of trust,” stressing that their work would play a critical role in shaping public perception and fostering unity.

Also speaking at the event, the Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Mr. Ali M. Ali, highlighted the importance of public relations in the success of both public and private institutions. He noted that effective communication remains central to trust-building, transparency and organisational credibility.

Ali advised the inductees to uphold ethical standards and integrity in their practice, urging them to shape narratives responsibly while maintaining truth and creativity in their work.

The NIPR conducts induction ceremonies every quarter as part of its statutory mandate to regulate public relations practice and certify chartered practitioners across the country.
