The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has signed a major broadcast agreement with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) as the official Host Broadcast Television for the 2026 World Public Relations Forum 2026 scheduled to hold from November 15 to 21, 2026, in Abuja.
The agreement was formalised through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) at the NTA headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday.
Speaking at the event, the President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Ike Neliaku, said the government-owned television station would play a crucial role in projecting the ideals of the forum, particularly the concept of responsible communication.
According to him, the partnership will also help leverage the global platform to promote Nigeria’s values to the international community.
“If what we are doing and the efforts we are putting in to package the biggest, brightest and boldest global event in the country is not properly projected, nobody would know,” he said.
“Nigerians and the international community now need to know that from November 15 to 21, 2026, Nigeria will be hosting 126 countries of the world. WPRF is one opportunity we as a nation must not miss. We are doing everything we can to change the narratives for better and we need NTA to achieve this.”
Neliaku also disclosed that key milestones expected during the forum include the inauguration of the NIPR Secretariat, known as “The Public Relations Place,” and the unveiling of the first University of Public Relations and Leadership in the world.
He said the university will be located in Abuja and Nasarawa State.
Responding, the Director-General of NTA, Salihu Abdulhamid Dembos, described the 2026 forum as a national project and assured that the authority would provide the level of media coverage required to achieve the event’s objectives.
Dembos said the country’s largest television network and one of the biggest in Africa would deploy the necessary equipment and facilities to ensure quality live broadcasts in line with global best practices.
He also urged Nigerians to support the forum, describing it as a major opportunity to enhance the country’s reputation on the global stage.
