Nigerian-American actress, TV host, and former beauty queen, Osas Ighodaro, has reached another major milestone in her career after securing the lead role in an upcoming Nolly-Bollywood cross-cultural series titled Imported Bahu.
The exciting project was officially unveiled on Monday by acclaimed executive producer Hamisha Daryani Ahuja through her production company, Forever 7 Entertainment. Ahuja, who is well-known for successfully bridging the gap between African and Indian cinema with hit titles like Namaste Wahala and Postcards, described the new project as a vertical micro-drama series the very first of its kind for her production company.
Taking to her Instagram page to break the news, the producer could not hide her excitement over the project which had been under wraps for quite some time. “For months, we’ve been keeping a secret. Today, we’re finally sharing it. Introducing Imported Bahu Forever 7 Entertainment’s first vertical micro-drama series.
A story of love, family, secrets, and one Imported Bahu who turns everything upside down,” Ahuja wrote.
The highly anticipated series features Ighodaro starring alongside top Bollywood actor and model, Rajniesh Duggall.
According to the newly released trailer, the storyline centers on Bahu Mehra, a son from a wealthy Indian family who travels abroad. While his family eagerly expects him to return home with expensive imported gifts, he shocks them by returning with a Nigerian woman, Zara Ogun, played by Ighodaro.
Zara is portrayed as a bold, confident, multimillionaire CEO of ‘Oguns Fashion’ who quickly finds herself struggling with a lack of acceptance from Mehra’s conservative family.
The plot promises a gripping mix of love, family secrets, and intense cross-cultural drama.
Fans of both Nollywood and Bollywood are already buzzing with anticipation following the release of the trailer. The series is officially scheduled to premiere on July 2, 2026, and will stream exclusively on LebaraPlay, which is being billed as Africa’s first telecom-owned micro-drama platform. For Ighodaro, this casting further cements her growing presence on the international entertainment scene, adding to her already impressive portfolio in film, television, and presenting.
