The Osun-Osogbo Festival celebrated yearly between July-August sees a large throng of devotees and tourists at the Osun-Osogbo grove today to participate in the event.
The festival, widely recognised for its cultural significance welcomes devotees from all over in white attire participating in the occasion.
NAN reports that while traditionalists take the lead in the rituals at the Grove, devotees can be seen praying to the goddess and fetching the water, known for its healing abilities, while tourists accompanied by their security detail explore the grove and take pictures.
Part of the activities of the festival includes cultural performers, drumming, performance by folk singers, eating and drinking, and worship.
The event which has drawn international coverage has its Sacred Grove formally recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site since 2005.
