Nigerian music star Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has sparked reactions on social media after announcing a change to his birthday celebration date.

In a post shared via his official X (formerly Twitter) account, the former P-Square member stated that he would no longer mark his birthday on November 18.

“I’m making it official. November 18th is no longer my birthday celebration date. Please note that I will not be accepting any messages or gifts on that day,” he wrote.

He added that his birthday will now be celebrated on November 30, describing the move as a personal decision and asking fans for understanding.

Peter Okoye rose to prominence as one half of P-Square alongside his twin brother, Paul Okoye. The duo dominated the African music scene in the 2000s and early 2010s with multiple hit songs.

However, internal conflicts—reportedly involving management issues tied to their elder brother, Jude Okoye—led to a public fallout around 2015. Disputes over royalties, creative direction, and business control eventually resulted in their official split in 2017.

Following the breakup, both artists pursued solo careers under the names Mr P and Rudeboy.

In November 2021, the brothers reunited in a widely celebrated moment that saw them perform together and release new music, exciting fans across Africa and beyond. However, the reunion has faced challenges, with reports of renewed disagreements over financial transparency and management of their music catalogue.

Peter has since raised concerns about alleged irregularities within their former management structure, leading to further public exchanges and legal tensions involving members of the Okoye family.

His recent announcement about changing his birthday date has added another layer of intrigue, drawing mixed reactions from fans and followers online.
