Super Falcons defender Ashleigh Plumptre has dismissed reports circulating on social media claiming she intends to stop representing Nigeria, describing the allegations as completely false.

The football star said the comments attributed to her originated from a fake Facebook account operated by fraudsters impersonating her online.

According to Plumptre, the individuals behind the account have been posting fabricated statements in her name while also attempting to defraud members of the public by requesting money from unsuspecting followers.

She clarified that she has never made any remarks about quitting the Nigerian national team over alleged demands from football officials and stressed that she does not solicit funds from fans under any circumstance.

The defender urged supporters to disregard the misleading posts and verify information through her official social media platforms.

Plumptre further disclosed that the matter has been reported to relevant law enforcement authorities, who are working to identify and apprehend those responsible for the impersonation.

She added that efforts are also underway to have the fraudulent Facebook page removed.

The Super Falcons star called on Nigerians to remain cautious online and avoid falling victim to scammers who exploit the identities of public figures for financial gain.

Her clarification comes amid widespread circulation of the false claims, which had sparked speculation among football fans about her future with the national team.
