Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have arrested a 50-year-old man, Nicholas Nusa, for the alleged abduction and sexual abuse of five young girls in the Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of the state.
The Command also arrested a suspect identified as Mohammed Abdulramah, who allegedly claimed to be a member of the military, during recent operations across the state.
These breakthroughs were contained in a statement issued on Monday by the Command’s spokesperson, Eno Ikoedem, on behalf of the State Commissioner of Police, Patrick Daaor.
According to the statement, police operatives recorded major feats within the past week, including neutralizing one suspected kidnapper, arresting ten suspects for violent crimes, and recovering an AK-47 rifle alongside stolen vehicles.
Detailing the abduction and sexual abuse case, the police statement disclosed:
“On 12th September 2026, the Command received information on the alleged abduction of five female children from Akoko Edo Local Government Area. A 50-year-old suspect, Nicholas Nusa, was arrested following police intervention.”
The police spokesperson further revealed the tragic outcome of the investigation into the minors’ ordeal, stating:
“Preliminary investigation revealed the children were sexually abused. He impregnated one of them, who went into early labour. The victim lost the baby after surgery. The children have been reunited with their families, and suspects will be charged in court upon conclusion of investigation.”
In another operation targeting impersonation, police and military personnel intercepted a suspect wearing official military apparel on a major highway.
“On 16th September 2026 at about 14:00hrs, personnel of 195 Battalion, Agenebode, stationed at Okpella, arrested one Mohammed Manfred Abdulramah, 32, of Okene, Kogi State, along the Auchi–Okene Expressway for suspected impersonation.”
“The suspect, who was travelling from Warri, Delta State, to Okene, was found dressed in military camouflage trousers and a camouflage vest.
During police investigation, it was discovered that the suspect is not a member of the military and stole the uniform from a Navy officer based in Niger State. Preliminary investigation is ongoing.”
The police command also highlighted the arrest of a suspect following intelligence gathering in the state capital.
“On 8th September 2026, operatives acting on credible intelligence arrested Sunday Irabor at Efe Classic Crown Hotel, near Oluku Market. Items recovered include three mobile phones, a Samsung tablet, a wristwatch, and some cash in Naira and Dollars. Investigation by the Violent Crime Response Unit revealed that the suspect is a notorious criminal and has confessed to several criminal activities within the state.”
Furthermore, the police tracked down and recovered a vehicle reported stolen earlier in the month.
“On 7th September 2026, a report was received concerning the theft of a Toyota Camry with registration number BEN 572 BT. Thorough investigation and tracking by the Violent Crime Response Unit led to the arrest of the suspect, identified as the complainant’s driver, Isiaka Suleiman, in Warri, Delta State, and the recovery of the vehicle. The suspect and vehicle have been handed over to the VCRU for further investigation.”
According to Commissioner of Police Patrick Daaor, the recent operational successes demonstrate the command’s ongoing commitment to intelligence-led policing, swift emergency response, and the relentless tracking of criminals.
The CP stated that the recovery of stolen vehicles, arrest of suspects, and disruption of criminal networks show that the command remains firmly on the trail of lawbreakers.
He reiterated his call on members of the public to stay vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities, assuring residents that no effort will be spared to ensure the safety and security of all residents in Edo State.
