The African Action Congress (AAC) has formally written to President Bola Tinubu, requesting permission to hold the inauguration ceremony of its Presidential Campaign Council for its presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja, on November 11, 2026.

Taking to his X handle, Sowore shared details of the development, revealing that the party has also demanded food, drinks, and logistical support for 5,000 participants attending from Nigeria and abroad.

In a letter dated October 21, 2026, and signed by its National Secretary, Oshiokhue Philip Ikpeminoghena, the party maintained that its request was rooted in the principles of multiparty democracy, political inclusiveness, and equal treatment.

“On behalf of the African Action Congress (AAC), I respectfully write to request approval to hold the inauguration ceremony of our Presidential Campaign Council on the 11th of November 2026 at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja, in preparation for the 2027 general elections,” the letter read.

“In the spirit of multiparty democracy, political inclusiveness, and equal treatment of political parties, we also request the provision of food, drinks, and other logistical support for 5,000 participants from home and abroad at the event, consistent with the arrangements reportedly extended to the All Progressives Congress (APC) for a similar political engagement,” the AAC stated.

The party insisted that public institutions must serve all Nigerians without partisan discrimination, challenging the Tinubu administration to demonstrate its commitment to fairness and equal access.

“We believe that granting this request would demonstrate the Presidency’s commitment to fairness, equal access, and the principle that public institutions must serve all Nigerians without partisan discrimination,” the party noted.

Concluding the letter, the AAC expressed expectation for a positive response and requested guidance on the necessary procedures for approval.

“We look forward to your favourable consideration of this request and would appreciate information on the applicable procedures and conditions for its approval,” the letter added.
