President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reportedly gifted a fleet of luxury vehicles to state coordinators of a new political mobilisation team preparing for the 2027 presidential election.
Multiple insiders confirmed on Wednesday that each state representative under the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, a nationwide campaign structure received three vehicles: a Toyota Land Cruiser, a Toyota Hilux, and a Hummer bus. The presentation was said to have been conducted on Monday in Abuja.
The initiative is being coordinated by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, who sources described as the central figure overseeing the mobilisation network.
According to those present at the Abuja gathering, the coordinators were also briefed on financial expectations for the 2027 race.
One source said:
“Each state was instructed to contribute ₦1 billion to the Renewed Hope Ambassadors’ campaign purse for Asiwaju’s re-election bid. Governor Uzodimma is the Director-General, and everything was executed under his supervision.”
Another insider claimed Tinubu’s recent public recognition of Uzodimma was directly linked to this emerging political structure.
“The President intentionally unveiled Governor Uzodimma as the Renewed Hope Ambassador for the 2027 campaign. It wasn’t a coincidence. These vehicles form part of the wider political machinery already being set in motion,” the source explained.
The revelations have sparked criticism, especially as Nigerians continue to face persistent insecurity, including kidnappings and violent attacks across several states.
A source quoted by SaharaReporters described the distribution of luxury cars as “a disturbing signal of misplaced national priorities.”
“Even with the security situation deteriorating, they still handed out three vehicles per state for campaign planning — while citizens are being kidnapped daily,” the insider said.
“People are afraid to travel, yet billions are being channeled into political logistics.”
The development follows the November 25 statement by Presidential Adviser Bayo Onanuga announcing Uzodimma’s appointment as the Renewed Hope Ambassador and Director-General for Party Outreach, Engagement, and Mobilisation.
In that statement, the presidency outlined Uzodimma’s responsibilities, which include coordinating mobilisation strategies, working with APC governors, and promoting the administration’s achievements ahead of the 2027 polls.
Onanuga said the governor’s new role is expected to “reinforce the message of Renewed Hope nationwide” and ensure cohesion within the ruling party.
