President Bola Tinubu is set to personally attend All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign rallies in 12 selected states across the federation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to the official campaign timetable released by the ruling party on Thursday, the president will formally kick off his campaign tour in Kaduna State on October 24, before proceeding to hold rallies in 11 other states.
Following the Kaduna launch, the president’s campaign schedule indicates he will visit Rivers State on November 7, Plateau State on November 14, and Oyo State on November 21.
The tour will continue in late November, with scheduled campaign appearances in Borno State on November 25, Enugu State on November 28, and Bauchi State on November 29.
The itinerary extends into December, with President Tinubu slated to address rally crowds in Sokoto State on December 5, Delta State on December 12, and Kano State on December 17.
His final two personal campaign appearances are scheduled for Adamawa State on January 4 and Lagos State on January 9. Party leaders will represent the president at rallies in the remaining 12 states scheduled for December, as well as 13 states scheduled for November.
Overall, President Tinubu is scheduled to personally attend rallies in 12 of Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Notably, three of the states on his personal campaign itinerary Oyo, Bauchi, and Adamawa are directly linked to prominent opposition figures associated with the 2027 presidential race.
Seyi Makinde, the Governor of Oyo State, is the presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), which is also the ruling party in Bauchi State.
Similarly, Adamawa State is the home state of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, who is the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The decision to limit his personal appearances follows statements made by President Tinubu during the inauguration of the APC Presidential Campaign Council at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday.
Speaking at the inauguration, Tinubu clarified that he would not attend every campaign rally nationwide, stressing that maintaining focus on governance remained his top priority. He, however, assured that he would make time to address Nigerians directly as party leaders travel across states and local government areas to campaign for his re-election.
The campaign structure follows the APC’s announcement on Tuesday of an expanded list for its presidential campaign council, featuring notable additions including Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory; Ademola Adeleke, Governor of Osun State; and Chukwuma Soludo, Governor of Anambra State.
