A Las Vegas jury has found Duane “Keffe D” Davis guilty of first-degree murder in the 1996 killing of hip-hop legend Tupac Shakur.
Davis was convicted of first-degree murder with the use of a deadly weapon, nearly three decades after Shakur was fatally shot in a drive-by attack near the Las Vegas Strip.
Prosecutors had accused Davis of orchestrating the shooting and supplying the firearm used in the attack.
Shakur was shot on September 7, 1996, while travelling in a car with Marion “Suge” Knight, co-founder of Death Row Records. The rapper succumbed to his injuries six days later at the age of 25.
His killing remained one of the most prominent unsolved cases in the history of hip-hop, generating numerous theories and investigations over the years.
The case took a major turn in 2023 when authorities arrested Davis, who became the only person ever charged in connection with Shakur’s murder.
The conviction represents a significant development in the decades-long investigation and brings a legal resolution to one of the most closely followed murder cases involving a major music star.
