Yusuf Buhari, son of late former President Muhammadu Buhari, has declared his intention to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives in the 2027 general election.

The development was confirmed by Bashir Ahmad, a former special assistant on digital communications to the late president, following growing speculation about Yusuf’s political ambition.

In a letter dated April 3 and addressed to stakeholders, Yusuf announced his decision to run for the federal legislative seat representing the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’Adua constituency under the platform of the All Progressives Congress.

“I am extremely delighted to inform you of my intention to contest for this position, as I aim to contribute to good leadership and bring development to our people,” the letter read.

Confirming the move in a post on his X page, Ahmad said the decision came after extensive consultations with key stakeholders.

“Following wide consultations, Yusuf Buhari, the son of our late boss, President Muhammadu Buhari, has informed stakeholders of his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat for the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’Adua constituency under the All Progressives Congress,” he wrote.
