The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a self-proclaimed spiritualist, Odigie Moses, over allegations of sextortion involving $1,100.
The suspect was apprehended in Ekpoma, Edo State, following an investigation into allegations that he deceived and blackmailed a foreign victim.
According to the EFCC, Moses allegedly posed on the social media platform Zelle as a spiritual healer with supernatural powers capable of solving personal and life-threatening challenges.
The Commission said an Indian woman, who sought spiritual assistance, contacted the suspect believing he could help resolve her problems.
Investigators alleged that Moses persuaded the woman to perform a naked spiritual bath while recording the session live without her consent.
The EFCC said the suspect later threatened to release the nude video publicly unless she paid him money.
According to the anti-graft agency, the victim eventually transferred $1,100 to prevent the video from being circulated.
The Commission said investigations into the matter have been concluded to the point of establishing the alleged extortion, adding that the suspect will be arraigned in court upon the completion of the remaining investigative processes.
