Arise TV on Friday abruptly brought an interview with Lere Olayinka, media aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to an end after a heated exchange between the guest and one of the programme’s anchors, Rufai Oseni.
The confrontation occurred while the anchors were questioning Olayinka about Wike’s position on the controversy surrounding members of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 campaign council.
Rufai directed a question on the issue to the FCT minister’s aide, but Olayinka declined to respond, making it clear that he was unwilling to engage with the anchor.
“I don’t want to answer any questions from you. I want this conversation to be between reasonable human beings.
“People who will not describe other people as ‘Gbewudani’,” he said.
The remark came amid an existing disagreement between Rufai and Olayinka.
Following Olayinka’s refusal to take questions from Rufai, the programme was brought to an abrupt end.
The anchor told the minister’s aide that no further questions would be asked until he was prepared to engage with all three anchors on the programme.
“No more questions, since you don’t want to answer. We thank you very much for your time this morning and hope to see you again when you are ready to speak to the three of us,” she said.
The interview subsequently ended without Olayinka responding to the question on Wike’s position regarding the composition of Tinubu’s 2027 campaign council.
